1) Do you only translate between English and Polish?

Yes, we do not claim to know all the languages of the world. We focus on what we know. To have an effective quality control procedure, it is necessary to know the languages involved. Covering lots of languages causes a breakdown in quality procedures, so by concentrating on the English/Polish language combination we are able to provide our clients with the best quality of service possible.

2) What subjects of English to Polish translation do you cover?

There are many talented Polish translators in our team. We have carefully selected each one. They are not only specialists of the Polish language, certified linguists and translation professionals, but they are also specialists in their own fields of industry. We are very proud of our team of professional lawyers, accountants, scientists, engineers and many more, who cover a comprehensive array of subjects.

We receive translation requests in a broad range of categories so we aim to provide translators who can cover as many subjects as possible.

3) What is included in your translation service?

Initially, your document will be translated by a native translator who is a specialist in your subject matter. Following this, the completed translation can then be proofread, edited or formatted depending on your requirements.

4) Who performs the translation?

Our translators undertake all the work themselves. We do not use any kind of 'machine translation' in our translating process. We work with our network of Polish translators who are located throughout the world. These are experienced individuals who, in addition to translation credentials, have educational and/or practical experience in a specific field or fields. In this way, we are able to match the right translator to a given document.

5) How do you ensure an accurate translation?

Depending on the service you order, our translation undergoes a multi-stage process which includes the initial translation of the document by a Polish translation specialist. This is followed by a check by a qualified editor to ensure translation accuracy and a final proofreading stage to pick up on any content and formatting errors or omissions.

6) Who performs the proofreading service?

A proofreader will be assigned to your project if required. The selection of who handles the proofreading is taken in the same way as for a translator. I.e. they must have linguistic ability as well as industry knowledge in your subject. The proofreader will act independently from the translator so that we can gain an impartial view.

7) How long does a translation take?

When working with English to Polish translations, please give at least two working days for project preparation. This is to allow us the necessary time to evaluate your document and discuss your exact requirements. We can then decide upon a level of service, agree a price and assign the best qualified translators and proofreaders. These days are also used to organise a work schedule for your translation and to prepare guides and glossaries in cases where the subject matter is specialised or highly technical.

After these two days of preparation work you should then allow one working day for every 1500 – 2500 words in your document for each translator assigned.

This timeframe should be used as a guide to an ideal translation project, but we know that sometimes there are occasions where time is limited. In these cases your project may be split between different translators and then coordinated by one editor.

If you have a choice, it is always advisable to allow as much time as possible for your translation. Allocating enough time will benefit the end product because the translator will be able to give more thought to the wording of each sentence. A translator working to a tight deadline may feel uncomfortable with the wording of certain parts but will not have time to review and rewrite these sections.

Allowing necessary time is an important consideration as we want to ensure that every translation goes through the proper quality control process.

8) How do you define an urgent translation?

Any translation which does not allow us the necessary preparation time (as outlined in the above question) is considered to be urgent. We will always endeavour to help you with urgent assignments, but this may mean that we have to disrupt our work schedules to accommodate and this may result in additional fees.

9) We already have a rough translation; can you tidy it up for us?

We are often being approached by those who have been let down by their previous translation company. When you have already paid good money and received a poor translation, you understandably may be reluctant to hand over yet more money to another company. However, reworking someone else's poor translation can often be more time consuming than the translating itself.

We will always try to help you in these difficult circumstances, but cannot subsidise other people's poor work. We will charge the appropriate amount we feel is necessary to bring your translation up to standard. We will charge you no more, but no less than what is fair.

10) How do you ensure the confidentiality of documents?

All documents are treated with the highest degree of confidentiality. Every document we send out to a translator is accompanied by a work agreement stipulating confidentiality. When requested, we are happy to sign a Confidentiality Agreement.
